Hey guys! As you all know chick chats has a channel on youtube. I love watching videos of other gurus and seeing their renditions of pop star makeup. One of my favorite youtube gurus is Kandee Johnson. Besides the fact that we share the same last name :-) she is one of the best in the biz and on youtube. She did a rendition of Lady gaga inspired makeup. Now I am not a fan of Lady Gaga (that’s a whole different post) but I am a huge fan of this look. Take a look at the Kandee Johnson youtube tutorial below and tell me what you think…of the artist and the look.

As always you can check out chick chats on youtube for more tutorials and reviews.

How To: Apply Liquid Foundation

I get asked all of the time on my youtube channel the best way to apply liquid foundation. The most important tips you want to remember is to 1.) use a M.A.C. 190 brush or any flat top soft brush 2.) Pat or (stipple) the foundation on your face and 3.) blend in circular motions. Remember not to rub or wipe the foundation to the skin as this will create streaking and uneven application. Below is a video tutorial I did on how to apply liquid foundation. Leave me a comment is you have any questions.

Jerseylicious Jersey Girl: Tracy DiMarco

I have to say starting a blog and a youtube page has been a complete and utter joy. I have been able to meet people I have never thought I’d meet in my life and not just people who are “famous”. My opportunity to interview Tracy DiMarco started when her cousin messaged me on youtube. I had been doing reviews on Jerseylicious since the day it started. I was up to two reviews when Tracy’s cousin contacted me. She informed me that Tracy loved my reviews and loved my youtube channel and wanted me to continue to upload reviews of Jerseylicious. So I have to say I was hooked at that point. It gave me just the right amount of motivation I needed to keep going with the reviews and the channel for that matter. At review number 3 Tracy contacted me through youtube personally. Episode 3 was an episode where I mentioned on my review that Tracy had taken Olivia’s sloppy seconds. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! That statement had Tracy contact me personally to tell me that I didn’t have the full story. So I wrote back to her and said “okay, I’d love to get the full story how about you let me interview you”……SHE AGREED!!!

Jerseylicious Interview: Tracy DiMarco Part One

So I made the two and a half hour drive all the way up to North Jersey to meet with Tracy. Once I walked up the driveway I was faced to face with Tracy and she was just an absolute sweet and bubbly girl, definitely not the ignorant villain we are made to believe she is on the show. She greeted me with a hug and immediately invited me in where I met her mother. Who was such a sweet Italian mommy :-) she offered me something to eat. All I could think of was how much her mother reminded me of my mother (always wanting to feed someone :-) We sat down and chatted a little while I set up the camera. I asked her if there was anything she didn’t want me to ask and she said no. Which I though was very admirable. She was a complete open book.

Jerseylicious Interview: Tracy DiMarco Part Two:

We talked about everything. Her relationship with Lorenzo, how her dream hair salon would look, her dreams for the future that involve wanting to be a judge on Project runway or shear genius, even possibly in the future being “there” for Olivia. Tracy is a totally down to earth girl. She is the epitome of an all american girl who just happens to be tan and have big hair :-) She really is one of a kind and nothing at all like the press and in some cases the show Jerseylicious itself depicts her to be. She was sweet to the core and the kind of girl who would give you the shirt off her back if it was the last shirt on earth she had.

I can’t say anything about Olivia. I don’t hate her I have no opinion about her whatsoever after all I don’t know her and I have never interviewed her, but I can say whatever ill will she is holding against Tracy is totally unwarranted. Let’s hope that there is a season two!

If you get the Style Network in your area be sure to tune in on Sunday nights at 10pm for a brand new episode of Jerseylicious.

April & Springtime/Summer Favorites

Hey Dolls! The weather is really off and on its warm one day and cool another day then down right hot the next. That really makes me realize that spring is definitely here and summer is just around the corner. Here are a few of my recent purchases this month as well as some of my spring and eventual summer favorites:

Versus Perfume by Versace:

This fragrance screams spring and summer. Its light and airy when I put it on it actually makes me feel cooler. It smells so refreshing. It has hints of florals but just hints…I’m not a big floral fan at all I’m more of a fruity smell type of gal, but this fragrance is very light but it lingers all day. I picked mine up at Macy’s for $59.90 for the 6oz. If your into perfume I would recommend you at least considering this one.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils:

I have their eye pencil in Milk (who doesn’t right….:-/) but I love how easy these apply. There are other eyeshadow pencils out there MAC has some bobbi brown has some etc. But I have yet to find a brand that provides as much coverage and easy application as the NYX eye pencils. I love all of their springtime colors. I stopped by their site and picked up every spring shade. Check them out at www.nyxcosmetics.com

Bath & Body Works Cooling Mist:

I love this stuff. I got it in the orange fragrance (Oranges and citrus scents scream spring and summer to me) Cool tip for these things pop them in the fridge and spray on yourself during the summer for an extra added cooling sensation.

Christian Louboutin Calypso

These shoes are so cute and they are totally 5 seasons old which means you can get these shoes for really great deals right now. High fashion is always seasonal so once another collection comes out you can guarantee that the previous seasons will become seriously discounted. I love the blue and black sparkle ones. I’ll be wearing these a lot this spring and summer.

Well those are some of my favorites for April, Spring & summer. What are some of yours?

Cheek Stain by Tarte Cosmetics

Posted by admin | Posted in Chick Chatting | Posted on 18-03-2010

Another fabulous makeup must have. I think any girl who wears blush should seriously have a few tarte cheek stains in their make-up collection. The cheek stains are a best seller for Tarte Cosmetics and rightfully so because these things are a miracle sent from above. Its not powder or cream base. Its an all natural water base cosmetic which makes it all weather resistent. Once you apply it and give it about 10-20 seconds to dry it will not move until you wash it off with soap and water. I actually watched a review about these stains on youtube. It was reviewd by, in my opinion, one of the best online make-up reviewers. Her name is Irene and her handle is pinkiecharm and she has reviewed just about any must have make-up product out there. After I watched her review and before I actually purchased the product, I had to try it. I had received a free sample of the dollface shade after I had cashed in a few hundred of my several thousand sephora points. I am honestly afraid of any make-up that will not come off without me touching it or wiping it with a wet cloth it makes me feel like its too permanent. Like how mascara and eyeliner lingers on your eyes a day or two after you’ve washed it off, even with make-up remover (I HATE THAT) But I decided to try it. I wasn’t going anywhere important for a couple of days so if I had bright pink cheeks while at the supermarket I figured that would be okay. So I applied it and true to its word it did not budge. I wiped it with my hand, a wet paper towel and even a wet wash cloth and still it remained. I then washed it off with a mixture of water and dove soap and viola’ it was completely gone. I was sold and couldn’t wait to get a bunch of them.

I got them in:

Tickled

Flush

Green Siren

Dollface was a little bright for my complexion and not in terms of uber pink, but it was almost to light to show up, and it just added a shimmer to my face which I didn’t like. The point of blush, to me, is to add color. If you are interested in purchasing these cheek stains I strongly recommend that you watch this video review here:

You’ll be a little freaked out with the colors. Tickled looks almost black in color but that is not how it comes out when you actually apply it. Its a beautiful plumish tone which is great for copper skinned girls like myself. Try it out and if you have any comments or questions please do not hesitate to ask. Everything I review on this site I am either presently using or am going to use once I purchase it so I will be able to answer any questions you have.

Sephora’s Temptu Airbrush Make-up System

Posted by admin | Posted in Chick Chatting | Posted on 18-03-2010

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! Nuff said. The weather is starting to get warmer and warmer all over the country and if your like me (I have severe oily skin) when its warm out it feels like my make-up is sliding off of my face, I take a look in the mirror and my face doesn’t just have an oily look to it, it has a glazed look. It feels slimy and gooky and its just all around gross. Looking like a glazed donut everyday of the week is not a good look for me. The whole point of applying makeup is to give your face a natural pristine look and having your make-up slide off defeats the purpose. A couple of days ago I walked into a Sephora to pick up some Tarte cheek stains and I was met at the door by a sales woman. Now, I usually just avoid eye contact and walk right pass these people, but she had pretty good sales techniques and something told me to go along with it. She asked me if I had oily skin, (of course I do, I’m sure you can see my make up sliding off of my face) she took me over to the temptu station and completely changed my world. She had me wipe off my make up (ALL OF IT) and then she applied the temptu makeup. She applied my face, eyes and lips. I was amazed, I saw no blemishes, no oil, nothing. I looked like I had a face like the girls in the magazines. I wanted it right away. I didn’t care how much it cost, in my opinion for what it did it was worth whatever price tag it had. I got my system which was the 2nd to the last one (so if you’re in the King of Prussia, PA area as of Sunday they only had one left). I picked my colors along with a bronzer and I made my way to the register.

Now don’t be fooled there are TONS of airbrush make-up systems. There’s luminess, Dinair and IWATA by M.A.C. just to name a few, but the difference and the perk of Temptu I have outlined in three simple tips:

1.) with temptu you don’t have to worry about messy liquid foundations and time consuming disastrous clean ups. Temptu comes with individual pods that snap in and out of the system with ease. It leaves no mess and no need for clean up.

2.) You don’t have to worry about finding your perfect shade. With most makeup brands, no just airbrush systems, you usually have to find a color that is closest to your actual skin tone. With Temptu it gives you settings that allow you to apply the make up with a light finish, a medium finish or a heavy finish. This way you will always be able to match your skin tone accurately and perfectly.

3.) Its more manageable. With other airbrush systems you’ll notice that the system itself looks the same as the airbrush system they use in nail salons to apply a airbrush french manicure. It takes a while to learn how to perfect it so you never really know how much pressure to put on the machine in order to match your look. With Temptu if you have it on the light setting no matter how hard you push on the the button it will never give you more than a light finish. So it essentially applies itself.

Temptu will set you back about $225 plus tax depending on the area you live in. But it is sooooo incredibly worth it. You can say goodbye to sweaty, gooky, glazing, melting makeup. You can wear it in a sauna and it the stuff will not budge. It will give that much control and the best part is that it doesn’t look caky or artificial. It looks as though you have on no make up at all. I encourage my readers to try it if you can spring the cash. I promise you will not be disappointed.
