Style and Fashion Guru Isaac Mizrahi sat down with Facto Magazine to discuss style, life and fashion. Here are a few excerpt’s from his interview.
FACTIO MAGAZINE: Tell us how you are redefining the new image of Liz Claiborne. ISAAC MIZRAHI: I think I’m making it much fresher and younger. But I don’t want people to be afraid of the word young. It’s just snappy, it’s not granny is what it is. It’s ageless. It’s for this perfect 35-year-old woman in her prime and that could be a 60-year-old. She’s still to me 35 and that is what I’m inventing is this perpetual 35-year-old who never ages. That’s who I am, even though I’m not 35, I still dress as though I am because that is my spirit. The most important thing for women to remember is to wear things that they love.
FM: What is one of your favorite memories from your career? IM: Well, one of my favorite memories is the first time I came to Chicago. I know that sounds like I’m just making that up. Maybe it’s suggested because here I am. But I have very glamorous memories of the first time I came to Chicago. I came here for the opening of a store and I stayed at that fabulous hotel at the time - the Mayfair Regent, which was right on Lake Shore Drive and it was the most fabulous place. They had this place where you’d go for breakfast called “Ciel Bleu” which I guess means Blue Sky or something. It was so glamorous, with the beautiful view of the lake (which I thought was an ocean, since it’s so huge) and we sold a lot of clothes here which is a great thing for a designer at 26, or however old I was, to come with a collection and actually sell a great deal of them. It does a lot for repeat visits and I will always come to Chicago happily. It’s one of my favorite places.
FM: What is one thing that people are surprised to know about you? IM: One of the most surprising things is that I am really a slob. It takes a lot of effort for me to look this put together. If I had my way, I would sit on the couch all day and eat ice cream and go to pieces with my dogs because that is the ultimate luxury to sit and watch TV with ones dogs. I don’t get time enough to do that. My boyfriend thinks I’m a little nuts because that’s all I want to do on my time off and he’s bored with that. He wants to go to India or something, but I’m not doing that, it’s too late for India (laughs).

Betsey Johnson Nina shoe is a classic timeless shoe with a modern look. I love this shoe. It’s so girly and pretty. It’s a classic all around shoe that can be worn with anything. With jeans, a dress, and brown cocktail dress. Going out for drinks or to a wedding. These shoes can be worn with anything. I haven’t bought them yet, but will be doing so this weekend. They’re featured at Macy’s for a limited time and of course you can find them online.
You can find them at Zappos on sale for $175. This is the cheapest I’ve seen them so far.
So if you have the $175 to shell out for these shoes I’d definitely recommend it.
Cowboy boots have been the talk of the town for years now. Its amazing how these boots have come back into fashion and evolved into a fashion forward trend. Who would have ever thought that a shoe worn by cowboys and bull herders would be a major staple in fashion. I just bought the Dingo DI522’s and these shoes are breath taking. I have a few pair of cowboy boots and most of them are extremely uncomfortable after wearing them for a few hours, they have a massive amount of support which make the shoe very hard on the foot and I get cramps by the end of the night, but these Dingo’s are amazing they don’t even feel like I’m wearing shoes.
They have a 2″ heel and and 9.5″ shaft. A steel toe tip and the entire shoe is made with pigskin leather. So comfortable, so fashionable. This shoe is amazing. Put them on with some skinny jeans and a simple shirt dress it up with some assessories and your good to go.
Grab a pair soon if you like them! Their looking to be sold out on every site I’ve gone to so far and they aren’t available in store yet.
Who says you have to be on a waiting list for 5 years, leave a $5000 down payment and pay close to $40K to get a beautiful Hermes handbag. It certainly wasn’t me :-). I have had a knack for fashion for as long as I can remember. As I got older my knack had taken a turn for EXPENSIVE I found myself working just to afford the new Dior or YSL. After a while, I hated seeing my wallet and bank account at zero with a closet full of designer clothes, but no money to actually go out in order to show these fashions off. So I found a way to get designer fashions without breaking the bank. I have a secret to finding these fashions, REAL fashions not knock offs. Fashions that are thousands of dollars less than getting them at the stores.
I found this Hermes bag which is normally in the ball park of $30,000 for the price of $5,995. Now granted $5,995 dollars is still a pretty penny, not money I can just throw away on a handbag, but there are three reasons this bag is worth it 1.) It’s a million percent cheaper than the $30,000 it goes for at Saks or Barney’s 2.) There is no waiting list and 3.) You can have the bag in 5 to 7 business days. It’s amazing and worth every penny. I unfortunately do not own this bag and I only like to do reviews of the bags that I own that way the review can be 100% accurate, but I just had to post this bag. I will be saving to get this bag. The prices do go down, so you can search online in a couple of months and see how much it goes for then. They usually go down in price when the designer releases the new seasonal line. You’ll be wearing a bag from another season but who cares when your carrying and HERMES!
New to me designer Thomas Wylde has a wonderful bag. It’s called the Scorpion Bag. It’s beautiful and I just purchased mine.
The scorpion bag is gorgeous. It’s the perfect mix of rock and roll and girly girl all rolled up into one. It’s has soft leather with a crinkled looks a bike chain bag strap and two scorpions on the back in diamonds. It’s beautiful. This bag is pretty affordable running at about $650 you can find it at the online boutique shop or if you like me type the bags name into GOOGLE and search through all the results to find the cheapest price, but make sure cheap doesn’t mean knock off. It won’t be the same if its a knock off. Your leather might not be leather, the diamonds might be rhinestones, there may not be a bike chain. Just make sure you get what you pay for.
The bag come in black, white, brown and the color shown here is listed as tan although it looks a bit orange to me. Either way its an awesome color.
Here is another Lauren Luke Make-up tutorial. She’s amazing. I love her. Her tutorials are at least 14 minutes long because she give you so much detail. She might as well be at your make-up table holding your hand through the process. She’s not like these three minute tutorials that leave wondering what the hell they just did to get their look.

It’s not even summer yet and Elle magazine has already listed its top 10 fall trends.
Not really sure how I feel about it. Most fashion shows tend to just show what a designer can do with fabric. I have never seen anyone actually wearing these kinds of clothes except in Sex and the City movies and really bad music videos. I don’t see anything that I love or even like. I guess this fall will be another year where my own personal style will shine to light. I like trying new styles but not when they look like this.
